Music fans everywhere just dodged a bullet—Netflix wanted to roast Paul McCartney, and you can bet it would’ve been legendary. Unfortunately, the legendary Beatle gave a polite pass, leaving us to wonder what a McCartney roast would even look like—probably something you'd need a time machine to truly appreciate.

Comedian and roast boss Jeff Ross spilled to Variety that he’s still dreaming of the day he can light up a real musical icon for laughs. "It would be so funny because he’s so loved," Ross said, though McCartney apparently isn’t craving the spotlight for roast burn. After all, the guy’s earned his peace.

But while we’re sad that Paul won’t be in the hot seat, Netflix isn’t completely giving up on the idea of roasting big names. Ross hinted he’s still hunting for another music legend—maybe a pop star, maybe a rapper—who’s brave enough to sit and take it.

He’s especially craving a Stevie Wonder roast, calling it "one of my all-time favorite ideas," promising, "You’ve got to hear it to believe it." Meanwhile, Paul will be busy serenading us on Saturday Night Live instead, hopefully making us laugh rather than end up being the punchline.
