Manchester psychedelic indie-rockers Rosellas are back with their newest single ‘Better Love’ from their upcoming EP Shadow Dancing. The track is a 3-minute glittering manifestation of hope for a better future, hailing on an unapologetically native Mancunian tongue for a strikingly catchy double-entendre of a chorus chant:
It’s getting better, love,
It’s getting better, love.
With glittering instrumentation reminiscent of The War on Drugs, the track truly shows off what the band does best - blending guitar-driven indie-rock with some atmospheric resonance that harks upon shoegaze at times. It’s nostalgic, euphoric, and yearning all at the same time - with the lyrics to back it up.
The track is introspective, almost a self-help letter to the narrator’s own self in third person - a confession of hardened feelings towards their place in life, combined with an assurance that things will get better (love). An attitude of ‘fake it ‘til you make it’ in a bid to regain one’s own confidence is one interpretation, and therefore I believe this track will resonate with anyone who’s ever wanted to start over or rebuild their life from a low place.
