Classic Riffs and Big Ambitions: Inside "All This Time"
Lemon and Lime is an indie five-piece band from Southend, Essex, comprising Benjamin Harris, Joshua Harris, Cooper Dawson, William Harris, and Lex Dickinson. The group is expanding its catalogue and establishing a presence in the UK guitar scene through classic British songwriting infused with elements of psychedelia and classic rock. Their latest single, “All This Time” exemplifies this approach, offering a concise, two-and-a-half-minute groovy track that incorporates a piano interlude, a guitar solo, and call-and-response vocal hooks.
We spoke with the band about how their single "All This Time" came together, their influences from the 60s and 90s, and what’s next as they prepare for their debut album.
"All This Time" & The Road to the Album
How would you describe the sound and energy of "All This Time" to someone who hasn’t heard it before?
Lemon and Lime: We’d say The Beatles, The Who, and The La’s.
What’s the story behind "All This Time" Was there a particular moment that inspired it?
Lemon and Lime: "All This Time" was actually the first song written for the band, back before the band was even a proper thing. It was originally released as a demo in October 2024, and we recently went back into the studio to re-record and release it properly.
How did the track evolve once you brought it into the practice room and onto the stage?
Lemon and Lime: It was introduced right when the band started as a song we could build on. It went through several phases of change before we finally added it to the live set. Now, we perform it as a medley paired with "Go With Her," which is another piano tune we have.
Is "All This Time" paving the way for a larger project? What’s next on the horizon?
Lemon and Lime: "All This Time" is definitely part of a wider plan for an album release. We have another single on the way next, and then we’re dropping the full album.
