Despite the historic tension, Collins brushed off the idea of any future confrontation and insisted he intends to leave the hostility in the past.

    Collins on the Gallagher Brothers

When asked directly during the broadcast if he is a fan of the Gallagher brothers, Collins offered a candid assessment of the Manchester outfit:

“No. Not particularly. I mean, I prefer to listen to the Beatles, because they remind me of the Beatles, that’s why I say the Beatles.”

With both musicians due to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the upcoming ceremony could be an awkward encounter. However, Collins has offered a gesture of forgiveness and made it clear he intends to keep things pleasant between them.

Acknowledging how public comments can easily spiral out of context, Collins stated:

“I’m going to be quite jovial, quite nice to him.”

    The Origin of the Feud

Recalling how the animosity was explored while writing his memoir, Not Dead Yet, Collins explained that his co-author previously interviewed Gallagher to get to the bottom of the old remarks.

According to Collins, Gallagher claimed he had been "out of it" while attending a Genesis concert years ago, mistaking Collins' dramatic stage lighting for something far more sinister.

Reflecting on the explanation, Collins laughed that the eerie glow during the band's iconic track Mama “would have done the trick” if Gallagher wasn’t sober.
