Why 'Stand Together' is Our Track of the Week

Stand Together leads the charge for their upcoming self-titled album, Shed Seven, and what a fitting track at that. Stand Together is a stadium-ready rallying cry, a powerful plea for solidarity and a celebration of collective strength. It displays a timeless band at their absolute peak.

Stand Together erupts with a vibrant, Britpop-tinged opening riff anchored by Rick Witter’s piercing, instantly recognisable vocals; the track retains the urgent spark of vintage Shed Seven. But it's the chorus that breaks new ground: Mary Pearce and Beverley Skeete weave in breathtaking, gospel-infused soul, transforming the song into a soaring, harmonious celebration of coming together.

We were lucky enough to hear the single in its rawest form when we were invited down to Shed Seven’s surprise acoustic album launch at London’s legendary 100 Club. Stripped back from its soaring studio production, the song’s core melody still hit incredibly hard. Hearing an intimate room full of die-hard fans already singing back every word to a brand-new track proved one thing: "Stand Together" is destined to be a massive live staple.

Lead singer Rick Witter describes the track as

“A call to arms and a rallying cry for some kind of unity in the world we live in today."

A Historic Resurgence for the York Legends

Shed Seven’s success has been undeniable throughout their 30-year tenure, during which they have released 6 remarkable studio albums. More recently, Shed Seven have enjoyed a resurgence, achieving their first-ever number 1 album, A Matter of Time, which was impressively followed by their 2nd number 1 album, Liquid Gold, which acts as a tribute to their previous work whilst reimagining the tracks with a fresh perspective. Not only that, but in 2025 Shed Seven were also deservedly awarded Best Live Act at the Independent Music Awards, voted for by fans, before going on to play a series of major outdoor shows that rank among the biggest of their 30-year career.
