    • The Partnership: A massive, exclusive long-term global agreement between Universal Music Group (UMG) and Apple Corps.

    • The Scope: UMG will now oversee all worldwide licensing, e-commerce, and physical and digital merchandise for the band.

    • Future Milestones: The first official Beatles fan experience will open at 3 Savile Row in 2027, followed by the unprecedented Sam Mendes four-part film series in April 2028.

Fifty-eight years after the formation of Apple Corps to govern their creative output, The Beatles are entering a major new commercial chapter. The band's historically protective company has just cemented a sweeping, long-term global partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG).

Moving forward, UMG will take exclusive control over the legendary group's e-commerce, licensing, and merchandise worldwide. This significant expansion builds heavily upon UMG's pre-existing duties managing the Fab Four's timeless musical catalogue.

For UMG chairman and CEO Sir Lucian Grainge, the landmark deal is both a business triumph and a personal milestone. Reflecting on the monumental cultural footprint of the Liverpool quartet, Grainge stated:

“The Beatles embody music’s power to change the world, and that influence makes them one of the most iconic and enduring cultural brands of all time.”

Emphasising the scale of the new agreement, he added:

“We’re grateful for Apple Corps’ trust as we deepen our global partnership, while protecting and growing The Beatles' legacy through authentic fan experiences worthy of their artistry.”

Concluding his thoughts on the alliance, the executive noted:

“As a lifelong Beatles fan, building on the relationships forged over the past 14 years is one of the great highlights of my career.”

A Growing Global Legacy and 'All You Need Is Love'

This merchandising announcement arrives during an incredibly active period for the band's legacy. Recently, on the 25th of June, fans worldwide celebrated Global Beatles Day. The annual grassroots event, initially launched in 2009 by lifelong fan Faith Cohen, encourages listeners across the globe to honour the band's enduring message of peace and unity.

This year, Apple Corps officially backed the fan-led initiative. To mark the occasion, a newly colourised version of the band's iconic 1967 BBC Our World broadcast of "All You Need Is Love" was officially released on YouTube for the very first time.

In a direct message to Cohen, Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene praised the global movement, writing:

“More than ever, the message of The Beatles, and of ‘All You Need Is Love’ speaks to something vital for community, connection, and the power of bringing people together.”

The YouTube premiere coincided with a massive array of both digital and in-person celebrations. What started as a small fan initiative has now blossomed into a truly international phenomenon, complete with exhibitions, tribute concerts, and mass gatherings in major cities spanning from Liverpool and New York to Buenos Aires and Tokyo.

Looking Ahead: 3 Savile Row and The Biopics

Beyond the new UMG deal and the recent summer celebrations, the next few years are set to be historic for Beatles enthusiasts.

It has been confirmed that 3 Savile Row, the legendary London location of the band's final rooftop performance, is being transformed. Slated to open in 2027, the iconic building will operate as the first official Beatles fan experience.

Furthermore, the cinematic world is preparing for a blockbuster project in April 2028. Director Sam Mendes is helming an ambitious four-film series, with a cast featuring Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Harris Dickinson, and Joseph Quinn. Crucially, this marks the very first time that Apple Corps has signed over complete music and life-story rights for a scripted cinematic production.
