Paul McCartney has announced a brand-new studio album titled The Boys of Dungeon Lane, marking his nineteenth solo album. The record is scheduled for release on 29 May 2026 via MPL and Capitol Records.
Alongside the announcement, McCartney has also shared the album's lead single, "Days We Left Behind." The track gives fans their first taste of the upcoming project and arrives as the official introduction to the new era.
The album was produced by McCartney together with Andrew Watt, with recording sessions taking place over several years between 2021 and 2025.
Inspired by Liverpool Roots
The title The Boys of Dungeon Lane is believed to reference a road in Speke, Liverpool, an area closely tied to McCartney's childhood. The album is said to draw inspiration from memories of growing up in the city, reflecting on early life experiences and moments that shaped his songwriting.
That sense of nostalgia carries into the lead single "Days We Left Behind", which introduces the reflective tone of the project.
First New Album Announcement in Years
The announcement marks another major release from McCartney, who continues to record and release new music decades into his career. Despite already having one of the most influential catalogues in music history, the former Beatle remains active both in the studio and on stage.
With the first single now available and the album confirmed for late May, fans won't have to wait long to hear what McCartney has been working on.
If "Days We Left Behind" is anything to go by, The Boys of Dungeon Lane could be another strong chapter in the legendary songwriter's long career.
